Shopify POS Hub
The Shopify POS Hub connects multiple universal serial bus (USB) devices to your POS device and helps prevent Bluetooth disconnections with stable USB wired connections.
The Shopify POS Hub lets you connect the following USB devices directly to your POS device:
- Receipt printers
- Card readers
- Barcode scanners
- USB keyboards
You can purchase the Shopify POS Hub on the Shopify Hardware Store. For best results, plug the Shopify POS Hub directly into your POS device. Don't connect it to another USB hub.

Ports on the Shopify POS Hub
The Shopify POS Hub has the following ports:
| Port | Description | Image |
|---|---|---|
| Tablet port | A USB-C port on the bottom of the POS Hub. This is the only port that connects the POS Hub to your iPad or Android tablet, using a USB-C or Lightning cable. No other port on the POS Hub can be used for the tablet cable. | ![]() |
| USB-A ports | Connect USB peripherals such as card readers, barcode scanners, receipt printers, and USB keyboards. Cash drawers don't connect directly to the POS Hub. They plug into a compatible receipt printer, which then connects to the POS Hub. | ![]() |
| USB-C peripheral port | Connects USB-C peripherals. This port isn't for the tablet cable. Only the USB-C port on the bottom of the POS Hub connects to your tablet. | ![]() |
| Ethernet (RJ-45) port | Provides wired internet to your tablet through the POS Hub. This port isn't a peripheral port. LAN-capable receipt printers and other Ethernet devices need to plug into your router, not the POS Hub. | ![]() |
| Power port | Connects the POS Hub to a power source with the included power adapter. | ![]() |
Set up the Shopify POS Hub
Set up your Shopify POS Hub to connect your USB hardware.
Steps:
- Plug the power cord into a power source.
- Plug the Shopify POS Hub's USB-C or Lightning cable into your POS device.
- If you have an iPad with a Lightning port, such as the 8th or 9th generation iPad, then use a Shopify POS Hub Lightning cable from the Shopify Hardware Store. For the most reliable connection, use a dedicated Lightning cable rather than a USB-C to Lightning adapter. Adapters can cause intermittent pairing and connection issues.
- Plug the other end of the Shopify POS Hub's USB-C or Lightning cable into the tablet port on the bottom of the Shopify POS Hub. Don't use any other USB-C port on the Shopify POS Hub for the tablet cable. Only the port on the bottom connects the Shopify POS Hub to your tablet.

- Bouncepad Eddy Tablet Stand (all regions except AU, NZ)

- Bosstab Nexus Heavy Duty Tablet Stand (AU, NZ only)
The Shopify POS Hub doesn't work with the Shopify POS Tablet Stand.
Keyboard and scanner interactions
When you connect a USB device that is in HID mode to the Shopify POS Hub, the device is detected as either a keyboard or a barcode scanner. You can change the device type if the device isn't detected correctly.
Switch a keyboard to a barcode scanner
If a connected device is identified as a keyboard but you want to use it as a barcode scanner, then you can change the device type.
Steps:
- In Shopify POS, tap the
icon.
- Tap the keyboard entry for the device that you want to switch.
- Tap Device type.
- Select Barcode scanner.
The Shopify POS Hub briefly disconnects when it reconfigures itself. After the Shopify POS Hub reconnects, the device is treated as a barcode scanner with scanned input handled as barcode data.
Switch a scanner back to a keyboard
If a device was previously switched to barcode scanner mode and you want it identified as a keyboard, then you need to disconnect and forget the device.
Steps:
- Disconnect the USB device from the Shopify POS Hub.
- In Shopify POS, tap the
icon.
- Tap Forget scanner for the device.
- Wait for the Shopify POS Hub to reconfigure itself and reconnect.
- Reconnect the USB device to the Shopify POS Hub.
Using POS Go with the Shopify POS Hub
POS Go isn't a Shopify POS Hub peripheral. POS Go pairs over your store's network with the tablet that's running Shopify POS. It doesn't connect to the Shopify POS Hub for power or data.
The POS Terminal listed in the Shopify POS Hub peripherals table is a separate card reader. The POS Terminal pairs over your store's network with the tablet for data, the same way POS Go does. The Shopify POS Hub's USB-A port supplies power to the POS Terminal for charging only.
For more information about POS Go, refer to Using POS hardware with POS Go.
Update the Shopify POS Hub firmware
You can update your Shopify POS Hub firmware to keep it compatible with your connected peripherals. For example, the Keychron B1 Pro Wireless Keyboard needs firmware 5.4.2 or later to connect through the Shopify POS Hub.
Steps:
- In Shopify POS, tap the
icon.
- Tap the connected Shopify POS Hub in the device list.
- In the Firmware section, check the installed version.
- Tap Check for update. If an update is available, then tap Install update.
Troubleshooting the Shopify POS Hub
Use this guide to troubleshoot common issues with the Shopify POS Hub. Complete Step 1: General troubleshooting for the Shopify POS Hub before you select the specific issue you're experiencing. If the troubleshooting steps don't resolve the issue, then you can contact Shopify Support.
Step 1: General troubleshooting for the Shopify POS Hub
Complete the following general troubleshooting steps for the Shopify POS Hub:
- Make sure you use a compatible device.
- Unplug the USB device from the Shopify POS Hub and then plug it back in. If the device is plugged into a specific USB port on the Hub, try a different USB port.
- Unplug the Shopify POS Hub from the tablet and then plug it back in.
- Unplug the power from the Shopify POS Hub, wait 10 seconds, and then plug it back in.
- If you're using a powered USB device, such as a printer or card reader, then turn the device off, wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
- Try a different cable to connect the Shopify POS Hub and USB device.
- Plug the Shopify POS Hub directly into your tablet. Don't connect the Shopify POS Hub through another USB hub.
Step 2: Select the Shopify POS Hub issue
Select the Shopify POS Hub issue and follow all troubleshooting steps.
Troubleshoot Shopify POS Hub pairing issues
If the error Could not connect to POS Hub is displayed when you pair the Shopify POS Hub with your iPad, then check the following:
- Make sure you're using a compatible iOS device running iPadOS 18 or higher (iPadOS 26 or higher recommended).
- Make sure the Shopify POS Hub's tablet cable is plugged into the tablet port on the bottom of the Shopify POS Hub. No other USB-C port on the Shopify POS Hub can be used for the tablet cable.
- If you're using an iPad with a Lightning port, make sure you're using a Shopify POS Hub Lightning cable, not a USB-C to Lightning adapter.
- Make sure Shopify POS is up to date.
- Restart the Shopify POS Hub by unplugging the power cable for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in. Restart your tablet at the same time.
Troubleshoot incorrect Shopify POS Hub firmware or serial number
If the firmware version on your Shopify POS Hub is 0.0.0 or the serial number reads as all zeroes (000000000000), then the Shopify POS Hub isn't communicating correctly with your tablet. To resolve this, unplug the power cable from the Shopify POS Hub, wait 10 seconds, and then plug it back in. During the Shopify POS Hub restart, restart your connected tablet as well. After both devices restart, your Shopify POS Hub should communicate with the connected tablet, and the correct firmware version and serial number should be displayed.
Perform a Shopify POS Hub reset
You might need to factory reset the Shopify POS Hub when the general troubleshooting and the specific issue troubleshooting steps don't resolve your issue.

Steps:
- In Shopify POS, tap the
