Change the Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner mode
When you set up a barcode scanner, there are 2 primary connection methods to determine how data is read and received by the scanner:
- Basic (HID) Mode, also known as Keyboard Mode.
- Application Mode.
Change the Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner from Application Mode to Keyboard Mode
When you connect your scanner to Shopify POS, the barcode that you scan puts the scanner into Application Mode. Application Mode is standard for many apps that use these scanners, including Shopify POS. However, Application Mode might not be compatible when you use the scanner with another tool or app, such as Stocky. To resolve this, you can put your scanner into Keyboard Mode.
To put your Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner into Keyboard Mode, you can scan the following barcode:

Change the Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner to Continuous scan mode
In Continuous scan mode (also known as Blink mode), the scanner activates when it detects a barcode in its field of view without using a trigger pull. Although the scanner is always on in this mode, after a period of inactivity, the scanner enters a low power mode, in which the LEDs turn off until the scanner senses motion.
To activate continuous scanning, scan the Blink mode barcode below. To revert the continuous scan mode, factory reset the scanner as described in Factory reset your Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner.

Factory reset your Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner
To factory reset your Zebra DS2208 USB barcode scanner or change to Keyboard Mode, scan the Set Factory Defaults barcode and then scan the Symbol Native API barcode to put your scanner in the POS app compatible mode.
Steps:
- Scan the Set Factory Defaults barcode:

- Scan the Symbol Native API barcode:

If you want to use the barcode scanner with the Stocky app on your browser, then activate Keyboard Mode and scan the USB keyboard HID barcode:
