Selling modes with the Verifone Victa Mobile

After you have completed the initial setup for the Victa Mobile, the device prompts you to choose a starting mode. This guide explains how to activate Use as mobile POS or Use as countertop terminal on the device, and how to switch modes later.

Activating mobile selling mode on the Victa Mobile

To set up mobile selling on the Victa Mobile, tap Use as mobile POS, and then sign in with the same Shopify account credentials that you use for the Shopify POS app.

Managing battery life in mobile selling mode

At 20% charge, the Victa Mobile displays a low battery warning. Charge the battery to 100% before you start selling when you can. You can expect up to 12 hours of normal use on a single charge when the Victa Mobile is in mobile selling mode.

Scanning barcodes with the Victa Mobile

You can use the camera scanner on the Victa Mobile to scan products, gift cards, and order receipt barcodes. This allows your staff to keep the Victa Mobile in their hand at all times, which can help with checking out customers faster.

Steps:

  1. Press and hold one of the scanner buttons on either side of your Victa Mobile.
  2. Point the camera at the barcode that you want to scan.

Activating countertop payment terminal mode on the Victa Mobile

To set up countertop payment terminal mode on Victa Mobile, tap Use as countertop terminal, and then pair the Victa Mobile to your phone or tablet.

Pair the Victa Mobile to a phone or tablet

Before you pair the Victa Mobile to a phone or tablet, make sure that you meet the requirements. Your POS device and the Victa Mobile must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

The first time you pair the Victa Mobile to a POS device, the Victa Mobile might run an automatic firmware update. Make sure that the Victa Mobile is charged above 50% before you start pairing.

Steps:

  1. Open the Shopify POS app on your POS device, and tap > + Add hardware.
  2. Tap Victa Mobile.
  3. Tap Continue.
  4. Tap Already registered.
  5. Tap Scan QR code to open your POS device camera.
  6. Scan the QR code that displays on the Victa Mobile screen using your POS device camera. A confirmation of the pairing is displayed on your POS device.
  7. Tap Done.

Switching selling modes on Victa Mobile

When you switch selling modes on the Victa Mobile, the process can take up to 30 seconds. Complete or void any open transactions before you switch selling modes.

Switch to countertop payment terminal mode

  1. In mobile selling mode on your Victa Mobile, tap Horizontal menu > Settings.
  2. Tap Use as countertop terminal.
  3. On your POS device, complete the steps to pair the Victa Mobile to a phone or tablet.
  4. Optional: Place the Victa Mobile in its dock accessory to present it as a fixed countertop terminal.

Switch to mobile selling mode

  1. In countertop payment terminal mode on your Victa Mobile, swipe left on the terminal screen to open the Shopify POS app.
  2. Tap Use as mobile POS, and then sign in with the same Shopify account credentials that you use for the Shopify POS app.

Unpair the Verifone Victa Mobile from a POS device

You can pair the Victa Mobile with only one POS device at a time when the Victa Mobile is in countertop payment terminal mode.

Unpair the Victa Mobile from the currently paired device first, before you attempt to pair with another phone or tablet.

Steps:

  1. Open Shopify POS on your phone or tablet, and then tap the icon.
  2. Tap Victa Mobile.
  3. Tap Forget card reader.
