Processing payments with the Verifone Victa Mobile

You can use the Verifone Victa Mobile with Shopify POS to accept supported tap, chip, and swipe payments, and mobile wallet payments.

Supported payment types for the Verifone Victa Mobile

You can use the Verifone Victa Mobile to accept payments from the following payment types:

  • Visa and Visa Debit
  • Mastercard and Debit Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Discover
  • Diners Club
  • UnionPay
  • Interac (Canada only)

Most national debit cards such as Interac that are co-badged with Visa or Mastercard can process payments outside the card issuer's country using Visa and Mastercard. Some co-badged debit cards that don't process payments through Mastercard or Visa might not work outside the card issuer's country.

On the Verifone Victa Mobile, customers might also present any supported card brand that they've loaded on a digital wallet such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.

Accept a payment with the Victa Mobile

The Verifone Victa Mobile supports three payment methods depending on the customer's card:

  • Contactless (tap): Hold the card within 4 cm of the reader at the top of the device, above the contactless reader icon.
  • Chip and PIN (insert): Insert the chip card with contacts facing up, and keep the card in the reader until the transaction completes.
  • Magnetic stripe (swipe): Place the card in the side swipe slot with the stripe facing backward or downward, and swipe through the reader.

Tap payments might be limited to purchases under a specified amount, depending on the payment type or the country where your business is based. For larger amounts, or when a customer has reached their tap limit, the customer can insert their card and enter their PIN.

Steps:

  1. From Shopify POS, tap Checkout, and then choose one of the following options:
  • If only one card reader is connected to your POS device, then tap Card.

  • If multiple card readers are connected to your POS device, then tap Verifone.

  1. On the Verifone Victa Mobile terminal, allow the customer to tap, insert, or swipe their card.
  2. When the transaction is successful, the customer can remove their card.
  3. Choose whether to provide a receipt and select the delivery method.
