Customer payment methods with Shopify Payments in France
When you use Shopify Payments in France, you can accept customer payments with credit and debit cards, accelerated checkouts, local payment methods, and cryptocurrency. Review the available options to determine which payment methods to activate for your store. The payment processing rates that you're charged for customer card purchases with Shopify Payments depend on the subscription plan that you have for your Shopify account.

Credit and debit cards with Shopify Payments in France
When you activate Shopify Payments, credit and debit card payments are automatically activated and no additional setup is required. You can accept payments from the following credit and debit card brands:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- American Express
- Cartes Bancaires

You can accept payments using PayPal Wallet.
Point of sale (POS) payments with Shopify Payments in France
Businesses in France using Shopify Payments can accept payments online and in person with Shopify POS. To accept payments in person with Shopify POS, you can use either of the following options:
- A Shopify-supported card reader with Shopify Payments
- An external card terminal with a third-party payment processor
Local payment methods with Shopify Payments in France
Local payment methods must be activated in the Payments section of your Shopify admin.
Local payment methods are displayed at checkout based on your customer's location, not your store's location. This means that you can accept payments from customers in different countries using their chosen local payment methods.
For example, if your store is located in France, you have iDEAL | Wero activated as a local payment method, and your customer is located in the Netherlands, then iDEAL | Wero is displayed as a payment option at checkout for that customer.

Additional eligibility requirements for specific local payment methods
Review additional eligibility requirements that apply to specific local payment methods:
- iDEAL | Wero: You must have processed at least 100 orders with Shopify Payments before you can activate iDEAL | Wero. Learn more about the requirements when offering iDEAL | Wero as a local payment method.
- EPS: This payment method is specifically for Austrian customers paying in EUR.
- TWINT: Your customers must be located in Switzerland and paying in CHF. Learn more about the requirements for using TWINT with Shopify Payments.
Cryptocurrency with Shopify Payments in France
With Shopify Payments in France, you can accept cryptocurrency payments in USD Coin (USDC). Cryptocurrency payments are subject to regional availability and additional terms of service.
Activate Shopify POS for Shopify Payments in France
If you have Shopify Payments activated on your store, and you receive a notification that you can set up Shopify POS, you must complete some verification steps.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Point of Sale.
Click Enable in-store payments. You're notified on the Point of Sale page and at the account owner's email address if further verification is required.
If further information is required, then click Update information in the Enable in-store payments section.
On the Update details page:
- Review and update your Personal information, such as name, job title, and date of birth, then click Save.
- Review and update any Account representative's information, such as name, job title, and date of birth, then click Save
In the Verification documents section, review the uploaded documents.
Optional: If the documents are incorrect, then click Upload other documents here to upload the correct documents.
Click Confirm.
Click Submit information.
After you complete verification, you might be required to submit further documentation. If further documentation is required, then you're contacted at the account owner's email address and in the Point of Sale section of your Shopify admin.
