Credit and debit cards with Shopify Payments in the Netherlands
When you activate Shopify Payments, credit and debit card payments are automatically activated and no additional setup is required. You can accept payments from the following credit and debit card brands:
- American Express
- Maestro
- Mastercard
- UnionPay
- Visa

Local payment methods with Shopify Payments in the Netherlands
Local payment methods must be activated in the Payments section of your Shopify admin.
Local payment methods display at checkout based on your customer's location, not your store's location. This means that you can accept payments from customers in different countries using their chosen local payment methods.
For example, if your store is located in the Netherlands, you have Bancontact activated as a local payment method, and your customer is located in Belgium, then Bancontact displays as a payment option at checkout for that customer.
