Building a store with a vibe code partner

A vibe code partner builds the storefront layer of your business, such as the design, the layout, the copy, and any custom code. The commerce layer runs on Shopify, including your product catalog, inventory, checkout, payments, taxes, shipping, and orders.

How much of the storefront the partner builds depends on the partner and on what you ask for. Some partners generate a storefront that the partner platform hosts. Others build a storefront that connects to a Shopify store you already run, so your existing theme stays in place.

To connect a store that you already own, you sign in to Shopify from the partner's platform and approve the data access that the partner requests. To review what you're approving, refer to authorizing AI tool access to your store.

When a partner creates a new store for you, the store is created on Shopify before you have a Shopify account for it. The store is password protected and can't accept real payments yet, so you can review what the partner built before you take ownership of it.

Claiming the store connects it to your Shopify account and makes you the store owner. You start the claim from the partner's platform, and the partner sends you a claim link. Claiming the store also starts your free trial.

After you claim or connect your store, you use your Shopify admin for the commerce side of your business, and the partner's platform for the storefront that it built.

Setting up a domain for a store built with a vibe code partner

You buy or connect a domain in your Shopify admin under Settings > Domains. For the full process, refer to adding a domain and domains.

Where your domain points depends on which platform hosts your storefront. If your storefront is hosted on Shopify, then you connect the domain to your online store in your Shopify admin. If the partner platform hosts your storefront, then refer to that partner's documentation for how to point a domain at the partner platform.

Managing your store in the Shopify admin

After your store is claimed or connected, you manage the following parts of your business in your Shopify admin:

• Payments and payouts: Activate a payment provider, review your payouts, and set up your payment methods. Refer to payments.
• Inventory: Track stock, set inventory locations, and manage quantities. Refer to inventory.
• Shipping and fulfillment: Set your shipping rates, buy shipping labels, and fulfill orders. Refer to fulfillment.
• Marketing: Run campaigns, create discounts, and review marketing performance. Refer to marketing.

Shopify billing and partner platform billing are separate.

Depending on how your store is built, your total cost can include these charges:

• A Shopify subscription plan to sell through Shopify
• A partner platform subscription if the partner builds, hosts, or manages part of your storefront
• Any third-party app, domain, or service charges that you add

Whether you keep paying the partner after your store is live depends on how your store is built. If the partner platform hosts your storefront or provides editing tools that your store depends on, then your store depends on that subscription staying active. Contact the partner for anything the partner controls, such as store generation, prompts, platform errors, the storefront that the partner hosts, and partner billing.
