Managing your Shopify billing address
Your billing address is the registered address that you pay Shopify from, and it's the address displayed on your Shopify bills. Your billing address determines the billing taxes that apply to your account, the payment methods and billing currencies that are available to you, and the Shopify company that issues your bill.
You can manage your billing address in the Address and currency section of the Settings > Billing > Billing profile page of your Shopify admin.

Store address compared to billing address
Your store address and your billing address are separate settings that serve different purposes:
- Your store address is the physical or customer-facing address of your business. Customers can view this address on your store and policy pages. You can manage it in the Store contact details section of the Settings > General page. Learn more about changing your store address.
- Your billing address is the registered address that you pay Shopify from, and it's the address displayed on your Shopify bills.
You maintain the two addresses independently. Changing your store address doesn't change your billing address, and changing your billing address doesn't change your store address.
Many businesses use a different address for each purpose. For example, you might need your Shopify bills to display your registered business address for tax filing, even when you operate your store from a different location.
Requirements for your billing address
Your billing address is subject to the following validation rules that don't apply to your store address:
- The country of your billing address must match the country of one of your active business entities. You select the entity when you change your address, so you can't enter a country that you don't have an entity in. Learn more about managing business entities.
- Your billing currency must be supported for the country of your billing address. If the country that you select doesn't support your current billing currency, then you need to select a supported currency before you can save the address. Learn more about local currency billing.
To use a country that isn't listed, first add a business entity for that country.
Company name on your bills
The company name on your billing address is the business name displayed on your Shopify bills. When you select a business entity, the company name is filled in from that entity's legal name, and you can edit it before you save.
The company name on your billing address is separate from the company name in your store address. Changing one doesn't change the other. With the correct company name and address on your Shopify bills, you might be able to claim Shopify as a business expense.
Change your billing address
If your store is on the Shopify Plus plan, then your address and currency are specified by your Shopify Plus contract and you can't change them yourself. To update them, contact Shopify Plus Support. Learn more about billing preferences for Shopify Plus organizations.
Changes to your billing address apply only to bills that are issued after you save the change. Bills that were already issued keep the address that was on file at the time. Learn more about exporting your bills.
