Set up a Star Micronics TSP143IIILAN receipt printer

The TSP143IIILAN receipt printer connects to your network using an Ethernet cable. To use this printer, you must have a network set up in your location and a router that you can connect your printer to using an Ethernet cable.

Steps:

  1. Plug the receipt printer to a power source.
  2. Turn the receipt printer on using the power switch.
  3. Insert a roll of thermal printing paper into the printer.
  4. Optional: Connect the receipt printer to a supported cash drawer using the cash drawer cable.
  5. Connect the receipt printer to the Ethernet port on your router. This makes the printer discoverable in Shopify POS.
  6. Open Shopify POS and tap the Connectivity Icon icon.
  7. Tap + Add hardware > Receipt Printer.
  8. In the Available network printers section, tap your printer model.
  9. Optional: test which printer you're setting up by tapping Print test receipt.

After connecting your printer, don't forget to:

Backup printers

If your default receipt printer disconnects when you select to print a receipt during a checkout flow, such as order or gift card, then a dialog displays on the Shopify POS screen that allows you to select a backup printer to connect to. All paired and unpaired network printers display. Tap Print next to one of the printers in the Paired printers section or tap Connect next to one of the printers in the Available network printers section to select a new default printer.
