Requirements for setting up Autopilot
To use Autopilot, your store needs to meet the following requirements:
- Autopilot is available on all Shopify subscription plans other than the Agentic plan.
- Your store must activate Shopify Payments.
- Your store must have at least one product.
- Your store can't be password protected.
- Your store must set up shipping.
- Your store must have refund and shipping policies.
- Your store needs to meet Shopify's account standing requirements.
- Your staff needs the Marketing staff permission on your store account.
Your store's eligibility is checked periodically. If your store becomes ineligible, then Autopilot stops running tactics.
Considerations for using Autopilot
Before you use Autopilot, review the following considerations:
- For Meta Ads, Autopilot uses a separate ad account and catalog path for Autopilot-managed campaigns. They don't replace or merge with accounts and catalogs from the Facebook & Instagram by Meta experience. Learn more in Meta ads with Campaign Autopilot.
- Autopilot only runs tactics that you approve. Autopilot doesn't change your existing manual campaigns, one-off emails that you built outside Autopilot, or other channel configurations that you manage yourself.
- Autopilot doesn't change your product prices, descriptions, or store settings. Autopilot recommends marketing tactics that use the product and customer data that you already store in Shopify.
- Autopilot can't spend beyond the guardrails that you configure for paid advertising, and each paid tactic still needs your approval before it runs.
- Every tactic requires your approval in Pending actions in Growth > Autopilot before Autopilot runs it on a connected channel.
Autopilot pricing and billing
- Autopilot is free to use and doesn't have any fees. You still have to pay for the marketing activities that you approve and run through Autopilot.
- Charges for Shopify Messaging, email sends, and related features follow your Shopify Messaging plan and product terms. Learn more about the Shopify Messaging and Email automations with Campaign Autopilot.
- Acquisition costs and Shop Campaigns charges follow Shop Campaigns pricing and your campaign settings. Learn more about the Shop Campaigns and Shop Campaigns with Campaign Autopilot.
- When you approve Meta Ads tactics, Meta bills ad spend directly. That spend isn't added to your Shopify subscription invoice. Learn more about Meta ads with Campaign Autopilot.
Available Autopilot marketing channels
You can choose which marketing channels to connect to Autopilot in Growth > Autopilot. For connection steps, refer to Connect your marketing channels. Each channel has different eligibility requirements and considerations. Review the following available marketing channels in Autopilot:
- Shopify Messaging lets Autopilot recommend email automations and one-time campaigns. You need to install the Shopify Messaging app to use email tactics.
- Shop Campaigns for customer acquisition on the Shop app and website. Your store needs to meet Shop Campaigns eligibility.
- Meta Ads for Advantage+ campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. You need a Meta Business account and to complete billing and permissions in Meta Ads.
Store data that Autopilot accesses
To create and optimize marketing tactics, Autopilot accesses the following data from your store:
- Your active product catalog, including titles, descriptions, images, prices, and inventory status.
- Customer segments, purchase history, and email subscriber lists.
- Order history, revenue data, and conversion metrics.
- Your existing campaigns and automations across connected channels.
Autopilot uses this data to analyze your business and recommend tactics that are tailored to your store. Data is handled according to Shopify's privacy practices and your agreements. For how Shopify treats merchant and customer data, refer to Privacy and the Shopify Terms of Service. Data sent to Meta for ads is also subject to Meta's terms when you connect that channel.
