Connect your marketing channels
You can connect available marketing channels to Autopilot to run campaigns.
After you connect a marketing channel, the channel is active in Growth > Autopilot.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Growth > Autopilot.
In the Channels section, click Connect for the channel that you want to add.
Follow the prompts to complete the connection. Some channels require you to complete additional steps in the third-party platform, such as adding a payment method or verifying your identity.
Autopilot guardrails
Guardrails let you set limits on what Autopilot can do on your behalf, such as target return on ad spend, target regions, and target languages for ads. You can set guardrails during setup or adjust them later.
Monthly budget
The monthly budget is the maximum amount that Autopilot can spend across your connected paid advertising channels each month.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Growth > Autopilot.
In the Budget section, click Edit, and then set your monthly ad spend.
In the Guardrails section, click Edit.
Adjust your guardrails, such as target return on ad spend, target regions, or target languages.
Click Save.
Autopilot permissions
Permissions control whether Autopilot can run tactics on its own or asks for your approval before creating email campaigns and ad campaigns. You can set permissions during setup or update them later from Growth > Autopilot.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Growth > Autopilot.
In the Permissions section, click Edit.
Choose whether Autopilot can create email campaigns and ad campaigns on its own, or needs your approval first.
Click Save.
Review your first growth strategy
After you connect at least one channel and set your guardrails, Autopilot analyzes your store and creates a recommended growth strategy. You receive your first set of recommended tactics, which you can review and approve in Growth > Autopilot.
Each tactic is one recommended action, such as an email automation or an ad campaign. You can review these recommendations in Pending actions in Growth > Autopilot.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Growth > Autopilot.
In the Pending actions section, click a tactic that you want to review.
Review the tactic details, such as the channel, audience, budget, and schedule.
Approve or dismiss the tactic:
- To let Autopilot run the tactic on the connected channel, click Approve.
- To remove the tactic without running it, click Dismiss.
For more detail on reviewing and managing tactics after setup, refer to Managing Campaign Autopilot tactics and campaigns.
Pause Campaign Autopilot
To stop Autopilot marketing activity across all connected channels, pause Autopilot. Pausing Autopilot pauses all connected channels and prevents new tactics from running until you resume.
After you pause Autopilot, your connected channels, guardrails, and permissions settings are saved. If you resume Autopilot later, then you don't need to set it up again.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Growth > Autopilot.
In the Autopilot configuration card, click More actions.
Click Pause all channels.
To restart Autopilot later, click More actions, and then click Resume all channels.
