Shopify offers and promotions

Offers are special promotions that can help you save on costs or access additional benefits as Shopify merchant. Eligibility varies by offer, and terms and conditions apply. Review the terms of the individual promotion for details and requirements.

Monthly plan promotional pricing

Shopify might offer promotional pricing on monthly plans for new merchants, such as a reduced rate for a set period after your free trial ends. For information on eligibility, plan changes during the offer, end-of-offer requirements, and options if you're not ready to launch, refer to monthly plan promotional pricing.

Domain offer

You might be eligible to earn subscription credits towards future bills when you transfer a third-party domain to Shopify, buy a domain through Shopify, or connect a third-party domain to Shopify. The amount is displayed in your Shopify admin.

After you connect, purchase, or transfer a domain, you'll receive the subscription credits amount displayed in your admin. The credits apply to your future subscription costs and you'll receive an email confirmation when they're applied.

Only new merchants are eligible for the offer. Review the Terms and Conditions for more details. The domain must be claimed within 180 days of selecting an eligible Shopify plan. You can earn credits toward a maximum of 1 domain for a single Shopify store and up to 5 stores on your Shopify account.

Shopify Rewards Promotion

The Shopify Rewards Promotion lets you earn subscription credits based on your monthly sales. Only new merchants are eligible for the promotion. Review the Terms and Conditions for more details.

The promotion period is during your first 6 months or until you reach the maximum credits for your plan, which begins after you sign up for a Shopify plan and pay your first invoice. During the promotion period, you can earn 1% back on all transactions processed through Shopify Payments and 0.5% back on all transactions processed through other payment providers. Maximum credits are set by plan type. Plan caps are localized per country. The following is an example of 1% back in USD markets:

  • Basic plan: up to a maximum of $5,000 USD back in credits for $500,000 USD in sales processed through Shopify Payments.
  • Grow plan: up to a maximum of $7,500 USD back in credits for $750,000 USD in sales processed through Shopify Payments.
  • Advanced plan: up to $10,000 USD back in credits for $1,000,000 USD in sales processed through Shopify Payments.
  • Plus plan through self-serve enrollment:
    • 1 year contracts: up to a maximum of $10,000 USD back in Credits for $1,000,000 USD in sales
    • 3 year contracts: up to a maximum of $15,000 USD back in Credits for $1,500,000 USD in sales.

Your subscription credits are automatically added to your upcoming subscription bill every month after you reach $1,000 USD (or local equivalent) in sales in your local currency. If you cancel your subscription at any time, then you will lose your earned credits.

Review your available subscription credits

During the promotion period, your subscription credits are added to your store every month in your shop's local billing currency. You can review your rewards and how much you've earned in your Shopify admin.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Billing.

  2. If you've earned any subscription credits, then in the Upcoming bill section, click View breakdown.

  3. In the Breakdown dialog, view credits that you have available in any credit category.

Troubleshooting pricing and offer display

Troubleshoot admin price differing from the Shopify pricing page

The price displayed in the Shopify admin depends on the store's current plan, billing cycle, and any active promotional offers. Several factors can cause the admin price to differ from prices advertised on the Shopify pricing page:

  • Billing cycle: The store might be on annual billing, which charges the full year upfront and presents a lower effective monthly rate. Month-to-month billing typically costs more per month than the effective monthly rate for annual billing. To confirm the billing cycle, go to Settings > Plan and review the Plan details section. Learn more about how billing cycles affect pricing.
  • Promotional offers: If the store is on a promotional offer, then the Shopify admin displays the promotional rate during the trial period, not the standard plan price. After the promotional period ends, the price changes to the standard rate for the selected plan and billing cycle.
  • Legacy plan pricing: Some stores are on discontinued plans with pricing that differs from current plans. If the store is on a legacy plan, then the Shopify admin displays the legacy pricing. To change to a current plan, change the subscription plan. After changing plans, returning to the legacy plan isn't available. If you're on a legacy monthly plan and want to reach a lower effective monthly rate, then switching to annual billing for a current plan is typically how the lower advertised rate is applied. The annual price is charged upfront and reflects a lower effective monthly cost than month-to-month billing. Learn more about how billing cycles affect pricing.

To identify which scenario applies:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Plan.
  1. Review the plan name, billing cycle (monthly or annual), and the amount shown in the Plan details section.
  2. If the plan name isn't listed on the current Shopify pricing page, then the store might be on a discontinued plan.
  3. If a promotional offer is active, then the plan details will display the promotional rate and the date when standard pricing begins.

Switching to annual billing or changing to a current plan can affect the total cost. Review the pricing details before confirming any plan changes.
