Adjust tax rates in the Shopify POS cart

Taxes are an essential part of running your retail business. Charging the correct taxes helps you comply with local tax regulations and ensures that your customers are billed the proper amount.

The Shopify POS app applies taxes based on the store location that you assign to your device. You can change the tax rate for a Shopify POS location in your Shopify admin.

Turn the cart's tax rates on or off

To turn cart tax rates on or off for all items in an order:

  1. On the home page of Shopify POS, tap Taxes in your cart.
  2. Deactivate or activate any tax rates for your order, and then tap Save.

Turn a product's tax rates on or off

To turn a tax rate on or off for a single product in an order:

  1. On the home page of Shopify POS, tap an item in your cart.
  2. Deactivate or activate any tax rates for the item.
