Before setting up the Star Micronics mPOP receipt printer with Shopify POS, make sure that your store and devices meet the necessary hardware and software requirements. Review the information on this page to confirm compatibility and learn where you can purchase the printer.

To use this hardware with your Shopify store, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • You need to use Shopify POS.
  • For Bluetooth-only mPOP models, you need a compatible iPad that runs iOS 15 or higher, or an iPhone that runs iOS 15 or higher.
  • For USB-compatible mPOP models, such as mPOPCI and mPOP CBI, you need a Shopify POS Hub and a compatible iPad or Android device that works with the Shopify POS Hub.

Limitations when using the Star Micronics mPOP receipt printer and cash drawer

Before you choose the Star Micronics mPOP receipt printer and cash drawer, review the following limitations:

  • Connection options depend on your mPOP model. Bluetooth-only mPOP models can't connect to Shopify POS with a USB cable or the Shopify POS Hub.
  • USB-compatible mPOP models, such as mPOPCI and mPOP CBI, are supported only through the Shopify POS Hub.
  • POS Go isn't compatible with the Star Micronics mPOP receipt printer and cash drawer.

Where to buy the Star Micronics mPOP receipt printer and cash drawer

The Star Micronics mPOP receipt printer is no longer sold on the Shopify Hardware Store. You can use a supported mPOP model purchased from a third-party retailer.
