Setting up an Epson T88 series receipt printer
Follow this guide to connect your Epson T88 series receipt printer with Shopify POS, load paper, and make sure everything is set up for smooth in-person sales.

Plug in your Epson T88 series receipt printer
Before you can use your Epson T88 series receipt printer, you need to connect your printer to a power supply.
Steps:
- Plug one end of the power cable into the back of your receipt printer.
- Plug the other end of the cable into a power outlet, and then turn on the printer.
If the paper is loaded, then a diagnostic report prints.
Choose how to connect your Epson T88 series receipt printer
You can connect your Epson T88 series receipt printer in the following ways:

Connect your Epson T88 series receipt printer
You can connect your Epson T88 series receipt printer with a USB cable through the POS Hub or with an Ethernet/LAN cable.
Steps:
USB
- Connect your printer to a power supply.
- Connect one end of the USB cable to the printer, and the other end to the POS Hub.
- After a few moments, Shopify POS connects to the printer. If prompted by the device, then allow the printer connection.
- Confirm that your printer displays as connected in Shopify POS by tapping the
icon > Receipt Printers.
Ethernet/LAN
- Connect your printer to the power supply.
- Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the printer, and the other end to either your router or LAN connection.
- Open Shopify POS and then tap the
icon.
- Tap + Add hardware > Receipt Printer.
- In the Available network printers section, tap your printer model.
- Optional: Test which printer you're setting up by tapping Print test receipt.
Backup printers
If your default receipt printer disconnects when you select to print a receipt during a checkout flow, such as order or gift card, then a dialog displays on the Shopify POS screen that allows you to select a backup printer to connect to. All paired and unpaired network printers display. Tap Print next to one of the printers in the Paired printers section or tap Connect next to one of the printers in the Available network printers section to select a new default printer.
