Point of Sale overview
The Point of Sale overview is available in the Point of Sale sales channel in your Shopify admin. From the overview, you can review your retail sales performance, open the POS editor to customize your in-store experience, and manage your locations and staff.
The actions and sections that are available depend on your staff permissions and whether you've set up a POS device.

Review your retail analytics
The Analytics section on the Point of Sale overview page displays a summary of your retail performance across the following metrics:
- Gross sales
- Orders
- Discounts
- Returns
To open the full report for a metric, click the metric. To review your data over a different period, filter the Analytics section by Today, Last 7 days, or Last 30 days.
If you have more than one location, then you can use the location filter to display analytics for specific locations. You can select multiple locations or search for a location by name. The location filter isn't displayed when you have a single location.
To review high-risk register actions taken on Shopify POS, such as voids, refunds, and manual discounts, you can view the activity log for Shopify POS in your Shopify admin.
Customize the in-store experience
From the Point of Sale overview page, you can open the POS editor to customize your POS app, customer display, and receipts.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Point of Sale.
In the Customize the in-store experience section, click Edit for the element that you want to customize, such as POS app, Customer display, or Receipts. To customize any element, click Edit Point of Sale.
If you haven't set up a POS device yet, then the overview displays an onboarding banner with a QR code that you can scan to download the Shopify POS app.
Manage your locations and staff
From the overview, you can click Manage locations to add or edit your retail locations, or click Manage staff to manage the staff who use Shopify POS.
