Accept a direct invitation from Shopify
If you receive a direct invitation email from Shopify Collective, then you can install the sales channel directly from the email.

- From the invitation email that you receive from Shopify Collective, click Install Shopify Collective.
- Log in to your Shopify account.
- Optional: If you have multiple Shopify stores, then select the store that you want to install the sales channel for.
- Click Add sales channel.
After you install the Shopify Collective sales channel, you can invite a retailer to connect with your business on Shopify Collective and create price lists.
Accept a retailer invitation
If a retailer invites you to connect on Shopify Collective, then you can install the sales channel when you accept their invitation.
Steps:
- From the invitation email that you receive from the retailer, click Connect on Shopify Collective.
- Log in to your Shopify account if prompted.
- If you don't have Shopify Collective installed, then follow the prompts to install the sales channel.
- Review the retailer's invitation details, and then click Accept to connect.
After you accept the invitation, you can create a price list to share your products with the retailer.
Check your eligibility status after installation
After you install Shopify Collective, your store undergoes eligibility checks. If you don't meet all eligibility requirements, then certain features are unavailable until your store becomes eligible.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Collective: Supplier.
Click Settings.
Review your eligibility status. If any requirements display as incomplete, then click on the requirement to learn how to fulfill it.
If you're ineligible, then you can still browse retailers, view existing connections, and create price lists in draft status. However, you can't set price lists to active or form new connections until you meet all eligibility requirements.
Troubleshooting installation issues
If you encounter issues while installing or setting up the Shopify Collective sales channel, then use the following troubleshooting steps.
Troubleshoot can't find the sales channel to install
If you can't locate the Shopify Collective: Supplier sales channel, then try the following steps:
- Confirm that your store is located in a supported country.
- Confirm that your store uses a supported currency.
- Confirm that your store is on an active Shopify plan. Stores on the Pause and Build plan can't use Shopify Collective.
- Go directly to Shopify Collective: Supplier in the Shopify App Store and click Install.
Troubleshoot ineligible status after installing
If you installed Shopify Collective but receive a message that you're ineligible, then complete the following steps:
- Go to Sales channels > Collective: Supplier > Settings in your Shopify admin.
- Review the eligibility checklist to identify which requirements your store doesn't meet.
- Address each incomplete requirement:
- Shopify Payments: Complete your Shopify Payments account setup and ensure your bank account is connected.
- Payout currency: Ensure your Shopify Payments payout currency matches your store currency.
- Tax registration: If you're in Canada, the United Kingdom (UK), or the European Union (EU), then verify your tax registration status.
- Trust and safety: Complete ID verification if prompted.
- After you complete all requirements, your eligibility status updates automatically. Eligibility is checked regularly, so your status should update within an hour.
Troubleshoot Shopify Payments displays as not active
If Shopify Payments displays as not active or incomplete in your Shopify Collective eligibility status, but you believe Shopify Payments is fully set up, then try the following steps:
- Go to Settings > Payments in your Shopify admin.
- Confirm that Shopify Payments displays as Active.
- Go to Settings > Payments > Shopify Payments and confirm that your bank account is connected and your payout schedule is configured.
- Verify that your Shopify Payments payout currency matches your store's currency.
- Check for any pending verification requirements or account holds in your Shopify Payments settings.
- Wait up to one hour for your eligibility status to update in Shopify Collective.
If your Shopify Payments account is fully set up but your Shopify Collective eligibility status still displays Shopify Payments as incomplete after 24 hours, then contact Shopify Support.
Troubleshoot products can't be added to price lists
If you can't add certain products to your price lists even though they're active and published to the Shopify Collective sales channel, then the products might exceed the variant limit or have other issues.
Check the variant count
Products with more than 100 variants aren't supported by Shopify Collective. If a product has more than 100 variants, then you need to split it into smaller products with 100 or fewer variants each.
Verify product availability
- Go to Products in your Shopify admin.
- Select the product that you can't add to a price list.
- In the Sales channels and apps section, confirm that the product is published to Collective: Supplier.
- Confirm that the product status is Active, not Draft.
- Confirm that the product is included in your Primary Market.
Check for $0 price products
If any product in a price list has a $0 price, then the entire price list might not display correctly to retailers. Remove the $0 price product from the price list, or add a price to the product.
Troubleshoot "The page you were looking for doesn't exist" error
If a retailer clicks a link from your invitation email and displays a "The page you were looking for doesn't exist" error, then this might occur because the retailer previously declined an invitation from your store.
To resolve this issue:
- Ask the retailer to check their Collective app in their Shopify admin.
- Have them go to Suppliers > Invited to check for any previously declined invitations from your store.
- If a previous invitation exists, then contact Shopify Support to help resolve the connection.
Troubleshoot existing supplier became ineligible
If you were previously eligible to use Shopify Collective but received a notification that your store is now ineligible, then your eligibility status has changed due to one of the following factors:
- Your Shopify Payments account status changed, such as a hold or deactivation.
- Your Shopify plan was downgraded or paused.
- Your store's trust or fraud status changed.
- Your tax registration status needs verification.
When you're ineligible, you can still view existing connections and create price lists in draft status, but you can't set price lists to active or form new connections.
To restore your eligibility:
- Go to Sales channels > Collective: Supplier > Settings in your Shopify admin.
- Review the eligibility checklist and identify which requirements need attention.
- Resolve the outstanding requirements.
- Your eligibility is checked regularly. After you meet all requirements, your status updates automatically and you'll receive an email notification.
Frequently asked questions
Review the following frequently asked questions about installing the Shopify Collective sales channel.
Can my store be both a supplier and a retailer?
Yes. A single Shopify store can act as both a supplier and a retailer on Shopify Collective. You can install both the Shopify Collective: Supplier sales channel and the Shopify Collective app to use both features.
Is Shopify Collective available on development or partner stores?
No. Shopify Collective isn't available for testing on development stores, partner stores, or client transfer stores. These store types can't meet the Shopify Payments requirements for eligibility.
Can I test Shopify Collective on a staging or demo store?
Yes. You can test Shopify Collective on a Plus staging store or demo store if the store meets the following criteria:
- Located in a supported country
- Uses a supported currency
- Has Shopify Payments fully set up and activated
If you can't activate Shopify Payments on your staging store, then contact Shopify Support for assistance, or reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM) if applicable.
How often is my eligibility checked after installation?
Your eligibility is checked immediately after installation and then regularly thereafter. If your store's status changes, such as Shopify Payments becoming inactive, then your eligibility status updates automatically. You'll receive an email notification when your eligibility status changes.
What happens if my eligibility status changes?
If you become ineligible after previously being eligible, then you experience the following changes:
- You can't set price lists to active status.
- You can't form new retailer connections.
- Your existing connections remain visible, and you can still view and fulfill existing orders.
- You can create price lists in draft status.
You receive an email notification when your eligibility status changes. Review your eligibility requirements in Sales channels > Collective: Supplier > Settings to understand what you need to do to become eligible again.
Why were products removed from my price list?
Products can be removed from price lists automatically if any of the following changes occur:
- The product status changed from Active to Draft. Setting a product to draft removes it from all sales channels, including Shopify Collective and any associated price lists.
- The product was unpublished from the Shopify Collective sales channel.
- The product was removed from your Primary Market.
To restore products to a price list, ensure the product is active, published to the Shopify Collective sales channel, and included in your Primary Market.
