Shop sign-in features

Shop sign-in features help streamline your customers' shopping experience on Shopify stores. After Sign in with Shop is activated on your online store, Shopify collects associated data directly from Shop account users who choose to use these features. This includes data collected as they browse your store after signing in with Shop, consistent with Shopify's Privacy Policy.

Customers signed in with Shop can check out in one tap with their saved shipping and billing information automatically pre-filled with Shop Pay. They can also activate syncing features across their Shopify experience. Customers are signed in to the online store automatically after they complete checkout on your store using Shop Pay. Sign in with Shop

Sign in with Shop is available on stores that use both customer accounts and legacy customer accounts. Using Sign in with Shop lets your customers sign in with their Shop credentials and saved passkeys.

The steps to manage Sign in with Shop are different depending on whether Shop Pay is activated.

Sign in with Shop on stores with Shop Pay activated

If you have Shop Pay activated, then Sign in with Shop is turned on automatically for customer accounts and legacy customer accounts, and can only be removed from your store if you deactivate Shop Pay.

When a customer has a Shop or Shop Pay account, a sign-in prompt appears when they browse or check out on your store. You can't prevent this prompt from appearing for individual customers while Shop Pay is active.

If you want to remove the sign-in prompt for all customers, then the only option is to deactivate Shop Pay. Deactivating Shop Pay removes the Shop Pay checkout experience, including accelerated checkout and saved payment information, for all customers.

Manage Sign in with Shop for stores without Shop Pay

If you don't have Shop Pay activated, then Sign in with Shop is activated by default, and you can turn it on or off in your customer accounts settings.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Customer accounts.

  2. In the Authentication section, click Manage.

  3. In the Sign in with Shop option, do either of the following steps:

    • To activate Sign in with Shop on your store, click Turn on.
    • To remove Sign in with Shop from your store, click Turn off.

Lead capture with Shop

If a customer uses their Shop email address to complete a lead capture form created with the Shopify Forms app or supported third-party lead capture apps, then they're prompted to authenticate with Shop. If you add a discount code to the form, then it's added to their Shop account and applied when they make a purchase using Shop Pay.

When you have Sign in with Shop activated on your store, eligible Shopify Forms also display a Claim with Shop button to let customers sign in or create a Shop account. If you don't want to display the Claim with Shop button on a specific form, then you can turn off Sign in with Shop for that form in the Shopify Forms app.

Shop sign-in theme customizations

You can add either of the following Shop sign-in related buttons to your online store in the theme editor:

  • Add a Sign in with Shop button to any page on your store to prompt your customers to sign in to your storefront using their Shop credentials.
  • Add a Follow on Shop button to let customers follow your store on Shop. Followers can view your posts in Shop, and receive notifications and in-app messages from Shop.
