Creating posts for Shop
Posts are shoppable content that let you highlight products or collections in Shop using images and videos, a headline, and a caption. For example, you can use posts to feature new arrivals, share styling advice, or highlight your bestsellers.
You can create posts manually in the Shop channel, connect your Instagram account to import posts, or sync a video from a third-party app. You can have multiple posts published to Shop at the same time.
Published posts are displayed in the following locations:
- Shop home feed: Posts are ranked by product relevance for customers browsing Shop.
- Shop Store: Posts are displayed to all visitors on your Shop Store in the Shop app and on the Shop website.
- Following tab: Posts are displayed to customers who follow your store on Shop.

Import posts from Instagram to Shop
You can connect your Instagram account to import your Instagram content as Shop posts. Reels, image posts, and multimedia carousels posted within the last 90 days are imported when you connect your Instagram account, and new posts sync automatically as you publish them on Instagram. After you connect your Instagram account to Shop, you can turn automatic publishing on or off to publish Instagram content to Shop manually instead.
To connect your Instagram account to Shop, you need a Creator or Business Instagram account. Personal Instagram accounts aren't supported.
When you connect Instagram, the following content is synced to Shop:
- Reels, images, and carousels: Reels, image posts, and multimedia carousels from your Instagram account are synced.
- Captions: Post captions are imported automatically.
- Ongoing sync: New Instagram posts are automatically imported and published as Shop posts. If you turn off auto-publishing, then Instagram posts are still imported as posts, but aren't published to Shop.
Connect Instagram to Shop
To connect your Instagram account, complete the following steps from the Shop channel.
From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.
Click Posts.
Click Manage apps.
In the Instagram section, click Set up.
Review what gets synced and the account requirements, and then click Connect Instagram.
Follow the prompts to sign in to Instagram and authorize the connection.

Sync a video to Shop from a connected app
You can create new video content or sync an existing video to Shop posts by using a supported app from the Shoppable videos for Shop collection in the Shopify App Store.
The steps to create, configure, and publish your shoppable videos depend on the app that you use. Refer to the app developer's documentation for more information.
From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.
Click Posts.
Click Manage apps.
In the Connected apps section, click Connect next to the app that you want to sync a video from.
Follow the prompts from the app to select a shoppable video and create a post.

You can't change the media files on a post after publishing. To update the images or videos, duplicate the post or create a new post with new media files.
Unpublishing a post removes it from Shop, and you can choose to publish it again at another time. Deleting a post removes the post from Shop and permanently removes it from your list of posts in the Shop channel.

Click Posts.

Content moderation for posts
When you create a post, the images, videos, and audio used in your content are automatically reviewed against Shop's guidelines. If a post doesn't follow Shop's guidelines, then the post is flagged as Prohibited, and isn't displayed to customers in Shop.
Reasons for prohibited posts
A post might be flagged as prohibited for any of the following reasons:
- The media in the post violates Shop's content policies.
- The post includes products that are prohibited on Shop.
- The post includes engagement bait, such as content that solicits comments, follows, or subscriptions using incentives.
- The media in your post is blank, broken, or otherwise unusable.
A post can be flagged for more than one reason, and individual slides in a carousel post might be flagged separately.
View and resolve prohibited posts
If your post is flagged as prohibited, then you can view the specific reason on the Posts page in the Shop channel. To resolve a prohibited post, you can either replace the post, or contact Shopify Support if you believe the post was flagged incorrectly.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.
Click Posts.
In the Status column of the prohibited post, hover over the Prohibited badge to view the reason that the post was flagged.
Do either of the following:
- To replace the flagged content, delete the prohibited post, and then create a new post with updated media that meets Shop's guidelines.
- If you believe that the post was flagged in error, then contact Shopify Support to request a review.
