Publishing your products to DoorDash

After you install the DoorDash sales channel and connect your store to DoorDash, your Shopify product catalog syncs to your DoorDash menu. Shopify admin is the source of truth for the DoorDash sales channel. DoorDash can't edit your product data directly, so you need to make all product changes in your Shopify admin.

Considerations for publishing your products to DoorDash

Before you publish products to DoorDash, review the following considerations:

  • Products must have at least one high-quality image. Items without images are automatically hidden on DoorDash.
  • Product titles, descriptions, prices, images, inventory, and categories must be updated in Shopify.
  • Inventory tracking must be activated for products that sync to DoorDash.
  • If Continue selling when out of stock is activated for a product in Shopify, then the item stays live on DoorDash even when its inventory reaches zero.
  • Prices mirror your Shopify prices. You can use compare-at prices to display promotional or sale pricing on DoorDash.
  • Size-related variant options map to DoorDash's dedicated size field.
  • The Shopify Product Category field is required for DoorDash category mapping.

Sync your catalog to DoorDash

After you've set up the DoorDash sales channel, the products that you publish to the DoorDash sales channel are synced to create your store's DoorDash menu. Draft, archived, or unlisted products don't sync to DoorDash.

You can view your catalog status on the DoorDash sales channel home page, including how many products are synced and how many are categorized.

To manually resync your catalog, complete the following steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > DoorDash.

  2. Go to the Overview tab.

  3. Click the Horizontal menu menu.

  4. Click Push Catalog to DoorDash.

The following product details sync from your Shopify admin to DoorDash:

  • Title
  • Description
  • Images
  • Price
  • Variants, such as color, size, and material
  • Inventory quantity
  • Continue selling when out of stock setting
  • Shopify Product Category
  • Sales channel assignment
  • Product status

Categorizing your products

DoorDash organizes your menu by category. DoorDash uses the Shopify Product Category field to map products from the standard Shopify product taxonomy to DoorDash's internal category structure.

DoorDash doesn't automatically assign categories with AI. If a product doesn't have a Shopify Product Category, then it's displayed as uncategorized on your DoorDash menu.

When you categorize a product, use a specific category. For example, if you sell t-shirts, then use Tops & Tees instead of Clothing.

Set the category for a single product

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products.

  2. Click the product that you want to categorize.

  3. In the Product organization section, click Category.

  4. Enter a specific product category name.

  5. Click Save.

After you save the product category, the product is displayed on your DoorDash store page in the related category.

Set categories in bulk

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products.

  2. Select the products that you want to categorize.

  3. Click Bulk edit.

  4. Click Add fields.

  5. Select Product Category to add it as an editable column.

  6. Update the category values.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Go to the DoorDash sales channel.

  9. On the Overview tab, click the Horizontal menu menu, and then click Push Catalog to DoorDash.

After the catalog sync is complete, the products are displayed on your DoorDash store page in the related categories.

Keep inventory in sync with DoorDash

When you change a product's available quantity in Shopify, the sales channel updates your DoorDash menu automatically. Inventory changes can take from a few seconds to a few minutes to be displayed on DoorDash.

Inventory tracking must be activated for products that sync to DoorDash. If a product's available quantity reaches zero, then the item is no longer displayed on your DoorDash menu unless you continue selling your products when they're out of stock.

To manually resync inventory and prices, complete the following steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > DoorDash.

  2. Go to the Store Location tab.

  3. Click Push Inventory.
