Understanding markets and market overrides for your checkout and accounts pages
If you have multiple markets, then you can create custom overrides in the checkout and accounts editor for specific international markets and B2B company location markets using the checkout and accounts editor in your Shopify admin.
Your checkout and accounts configuration has a Store default, which is the base configuration for all markets. Changes that you make to your store default configuration apply to all markets. If you modify a section with a block in a market other than the Store default, then the checkout and accounts editor creates an override for that section, block, or page.
If a market has a section with an added, removed, or reordered block, then that section no longer automatically inherits added or reordered blocks when you update the Store default or a parent market. Any section unaffected by the block override still inherits updates. Overridden settings, such as changes to text fields, branding, or extensions also stop inheriting changes from the Store default or parent markets, but only for that setting.

Market drop-down menu options
Markets help you adapt your checkout and customer accounts experience for different customers. In the checkout and accounts editor, you can select the market you want to edit from the Market drop-down menu. Retail markets don't display as options, as in-person markets don't have an associated online checkout or accounts pages to customize.

Market inheritance and overrides
Any time blocks are added, removed, or reordered in a market, their order in that section is no longer inherited from their parent market. This customization is considered an override, and allows you to create checkout and accounts customizations for specific markets. If you later update that item in the parent market, then the item with the override doesn't inherit the update and keeps your initial change.
For example, you have a North America market and a Europe market set up in addition to your Store default. If you add a custom block to the Payment section of the North America market's checkout, then you've created an override in that section. If you decide later to add a different block to the Payment section of the Store default, then the Europe market and any new uncustomized markets that you create in the future will have that new block in the Payment section of their checkouts, but the North America market won't have that new block added to the Payment section because of the override that you previously created.
However, if you add a third block to the Delivery section of your Store default, then the North America market, Europe market, and all future markets will have that block in the checkout. The North America market can inherit that block because there's no existing override in its Delivery section preventing it from inheriting the change that you made to the Store default.
Settings or specific fields, such as text fields or colors, can also be overridden, but the inheritance is retained with the parent market for all other settings in the section as per usual. Only that setting or field isn't inherited from the parent market.
You can use the checkout and accounts editor to create any of the following types of market overrides:

Additional market customizations available to customer accounts pages
In addition to market-specific overrides for branding, settings, and blocks, customer account pages also support market-specific overrides for the following customization types:
- Adding or removing full-page extensions, such as a subscriptions management page provided by a third-party app.
- Changing customer account menus, such as changing from the default
customer-account-main-menuapplied to the Header section of customer accounts pages. - Adding or removing order actions, such as a button to request returns.
A full-page extension override doesn't break inheritance for the market, meaning that the market continues to inherit new full-page extensions added to the Store default or parent markets.
Identifying market overrides
When an override is created, an icon displays on the affected field, page title, section, and block to indicate which parts of the checkout or accounts page was overridden, and to what degree.
For example, if you add a block to your North American market's Order summary on the Checkout page, then the checkout and accounts sidebar displays the following icons:

icon, indicating that the section has some elements that have been overridden, because the order of blocks has changed. - The Checkout page title displays with a , because some elements on the page have been overridden.
This visual indicator can help you quickly identify which elements of a market's checkout and accounts configuration are unique to the market.
You can identify market overrides in the checkout and accounts editor by checking for the following labels or icons:

Market language in the checkout and accounts editor
If your store's primary language isn't available for a market, then you need to use a translation app to customize content in the market's language. You can't modify sections or blocks in the checkout and accounts editor unless the primary language is available to the market. Learn more about managing market languages.
