Managing your Shopify account

You can use your Shopify account to manage your login credentials, account security, and identity information for your Partner account. Your Partner account lets you access stores and your Partner dashboard.

You can manage your Shopify account by logging into your Shopify account, or from the Partner Dashboard. Your Shopify account has the following two pages:

  • The General page contains settings for your account details, such as name and email, and Shopify admin preferences, such as language.
  • The Security page contains account security settings. You can manage security settings, such as recovery codes and two-step authentication. Learn more about security settings for you Shopify account.

Access your Shopify account

You can access your Shopify account through your Partner dashboard.

Upload or edit your profile photo

You can upload or edit your profile picture from your Partner dashboard.

Steps:

  1. Go to your Partner Dashboard.

  2. Click your profile name.

  3. To upload or edit your profile picture, click Upload photo.

  4. Click Save.

You can also update your company avatar that's displayed in the topbar after you log in to your Partner dashboard. Your image needs to be in the .jpg format. Other file formats aren't supported.

Update your first and last name

You can update your first and last name from your Partner dashboard. Your first and last name must match your government-issued ID.

Steps:

  1. Go to your Partner Dashboard.

  2. Click your profile name.

  3. To update your first name or last name, enter a new name in the appropriate field.

  4. Click Save.

Update your Shopify account email address

You can update your Shopify account email address from your Partner dashboard. When you update your account email address, all stores linked to your Shopify and Partner accounts are affected.

Steps:

  1. Go to your Partner Dashboard.

  2. Click your profile name.

  3. In the Details section next to your email address, click Update.

  4. In the Verify your password dialog, enter your current password, and then click Next.

  5. In the Details section next to your email address, click Update.

  6. In the Verify your password dialog, enter your current password and then click Next.

  7. In the New email field, enter your new email address.

Add and manage a phone number for your Shopify account

You can add an optional phone number to your Shopify account. You can also change the phone number or remove it from your Shopify account.

Steps:

  1. Go to your Partner Dashboard.

  2. Click your profile name.

  3. Click Your profile.

  4. In the Details section next to the phone number field, do any of the following:

  • To add a phone number:
    1. Click Add.
    2. In the Add phone number dialog, select your country code, and then enter your phone number.
    3. Click Add.
  • To update a phone number:
    1. Click Update.
    2. In the Update phone number dialog, select your country code, and then enter your phone number.
    3. Click Update.
  • To remove a phone number:
    1. Click Remove.
    2. In the Remove phone number dialog, click Remove.
  1. Click Save.

Set up your preferred language for the Partner dashboard

You can choose the language that's displayed for your Partner dashboard from the available languages listed.

Steps:

  1. Go to your Partner Dashboard.

  2. Click your profile name.

  3. In the Preferred language section, select the language that you want to use.

  4. Click Save.

Secure your Shopify account

You can add enhanced security to your account by activating app authentication or SMS authentication. Learn more about securing your account with two-step authentication.

You can select one of the following authentication methods:

You can also set up a backup authentication method and should consider retrieving and saving your recovery codes.

If someone logs in to your Shopify account for the Partner dashboard from an unfamiliar device, then you receive an email to warn you that your account was connected to a new device. If you don't recognize the device, then your account might be compromised. If your account has been compromised, then take steps to protect your data immediately.

If someone logs in to your Shopify Account for the Partner Dashboard from an unfamiliar device, then you'll receive an email to warn you that your account was connected to a new device. If you don't recognize the device, then your account might be compromised. If your account has been compromised, then take steps to protect your data right away.

  1. Log in to the email account that you use to log in to the Partner dashboard, and then change the password for that email account.
  2. Log in to the Partner dashboard and change the password for your Shopify account. If you can't log in, then reset your password. If you don't receive a password reset email, then contact Shopify Support.
  3. Log in to the email account that you use to log in to the Partner Dashboard, and then change the password for that email account.
    • If you haven't activated two-step authentication, then do so now for extra security at login.
  4. Authenticate your account using two-step authentication:
    • If you haven't enabled two-step authentication, then do so now for extra security at login.
    • If you don't have access to the device that you use to authenticate, then log in using one of the recovery codes that were provided when you set up two-step authentication.
    • If an attacker was able to defeat your two-step authentication, for example by stealing your device, then change your device and set up two-step authentication again.
  5. Check and update your banking details for the PayPal account you use for payments from Shopify.
  6. Review your general account settings to make sure all other information is correct.
