Shopify Tax fees
Fees for tax calculations apply if your store's global sales meet or exceed the free tier threshold. If your store's sales are below the threshold, then there are no charges for tax calculations.
The following types of sales count towards the threshold for tax calculations:
- Sales from the online store to any destination country
- Sales from other channels that you've connected to Shopify (for example, Facebook or Instagram)
- Sales made in person through Shopify Point of Sale
- Sales made through Shop
- Sales of gift cards
- Sales that include non-taxable products
- Sales made through all payment gateways
- Taxes and shipping fees on sales
If your store's sales are equal to or above the fee threshold, then a percentage fee applies to transactions with calculated tax. The fee applies to orders from regions (states, provinces, or countries) where you have tax collection activated, including orders where no tax is charged due to product exemptions. The fee doesn't apply to the following orders:
- Orders from regions (states, provinces, or countries) where you don't collect tax
- Orders imported from outside Shopify
This fee is charged to you with your subscription invoice for Shopify, or in a bill if you exceed your billing threshold. It isn't charged to your customers, and isn't displayed on their invoice. To review your tax transaction fees, go to Billing in your Shopify admin, where you can access and export your bills.
