Update email notifications and printed receipts for cash rounding
If you accept cash payments through Shopify POS in countries where the smallest denomination of coins has been removed from circulation, then payment totals are automatically rounded at checkout. This process is called cash rounding.
Cash rounding ensures that the total amount a customer pays with cash matches the denominations available in your country. Payment card and other digital payments continue to use the unrounded total.
To maintain clear and accurate communication with your customers, your store's printed receipts and email notifications should clearly display both the unrounded total and the cash-rounded total during a cash sale.
If your store uses customized notification templates and customized printed POS receipts and there is cash rounding, then you might need to manually update the receipts to make sure that cash rounding data displays correctly.
You can update the following receipt templates:
- POS and mobile receipt
- POS exchange V2 receipt
- POS printed receipts (Pro locations only)
