Discount combinations on POS

When you process a sale in Shopify POS, you can apply both automatic discounts and discount codes that you've configured in your Shopify admin, as well as custom discounts that are specific to the transaction. When multiple discounts apply to the same order, customers benefit from the best possible total discount based on their cart.

Before you can use discount combinations in Shopify POS, you need to set up your discounts in the Shopify admin and configure them to be combinable. Learn more about setting up and configuring discount combinations.

Requirements

To use discount combinations in Shopify POS, your store must meet the following requirements:

• Your retail location must use Shopify POS Pro.
• Discounts must be configured as combinable in your Shopify admin before they combine in POS transactions.

POS-specific discount behavior

When working with discount combinations in Shopify POS, note the following behaviors:

• Custom discounts that you apply manually in Shopify POS always apply to the order, even if other discounts have combination restrictions.
• You can't apply custom line item discounts to a split line item.
• After you apply a custom line item discount in Shopify POS, additional product discount codes can't be applied to that same item.
• All automatic discounts and discount codes follow the same combination rules and calculation order as online orders.
• For stores that are on the Shopify Plus plan, combining multiple products discounts on the same line item is supported on POS.

Testing discount combinations

You can test your discount combinations to ensure they're working correctly in Shopify POS before processing live transactions.

Steps:

1. Place a test order in Shopify POS by adding products to your cart that trigger the discount combination.
2. Apply the associated discount codes during checkout.
3. Review the cart to confirm that the correct discounts apply and combine.
4. Complete the test transaction.
