Customize your Shopify POS lock screen

You can add a logo and background to your POS device's lock screen. The lock screen displays after a period of inactivity, or whenever a sale is concluded. Staff need to enter a 4-digit PIN to unlock the screen.

The customizations that you make to the POS lock screen apply to all POS devices at all locations.

You can customize your POS lock screen with your store logo in the Shopify admin. Logos must be a SVG, PNG, or WEBP file, and must be a minimum of 512 pixels.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Point of Sale > Settings.

  2. In the Customization section, click POS app to open the POS editor.

  3. In the Views section, select Lock screen.

  4. In the Logo section, do any of the following actions:

    • To add a logo, click Select image to choose an image file, and then click Done.
    • To change an existing logo, click Change > Select image. Choose a new image file, and then click Done.
    • To remove a logo, click Change > Remove.

  5. Optional: To preview your customized lock screen on different device types, click the Preview options menu, and then select the type of device (tablet or mobile) that you want to use.

  6. Click Save to save the logo to your lock screen.

Adding a background to your POS lock screen

You can customize your POS lock screen with a background image or solid color in the Shopify admin.

Add a background image to your POS lock screen

Background images must be a WEBP, PNG, JPEG, or GIF file, and must be under 15 MB in file size.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Point of Sale > Settings.

  2. In the Customization section, click POS app to open the POS editor.

  3. In the Views section, select Lock screen.

  4. In the Background section, click Image.

  5. To manage your background image, do any of the following actions:

    • To add a background image, click Select image. Choose an image file, and then click Done.
    • To change an existing background image, click Change > Select image. Choose a new image file, and then click Done.
    • To remove a background image, click Change > Remove.

  6. Optional: To preview your customized lock screen on different device types, click the Preview options menu, and then select the type of device (tablet or mobile) that you want to use.

  7. Click Save to save the background image to your lock screen.

Add a background color to your POS lock screen

You can add a solid color background to the lock screen of your POS app.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Point of Sale > Settings.

  2. In the Customization section, click POS app to open the POS editor.

  3. In the Views section, select Lock screen.

  4. In the Background section, do the following steps:

    1. Click Color.
    2. Click the color menu, and then use the color picker or add a HEX (hexadecimal) code to select a new color.

  5. Optional: To preview your customized lock screen on different device types, click the Preview options menu, and then select the type of device (tablet or mobile) that you want to use.

  6. Click Save to save the background color to your lock screen.
