Customizing the Analytics overview dashboard

You can customize the Analytics overview dashboard to focus on the metrics that matter most to your business. You can add or remove metric cards, rearrange and resize them, and organize them into labeled sections.

Manage the metric cards on your Analytics overview dashboard

You can customize your overview dashboard by adding, rearranging, resizing, and removing metric cards. Available cards are listed in the metrics library sidebar. To restore your original layout, click Reset to default.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Analytics.

2. Click > Customize to open the dashboard editor.

3. Customize the metric cards on your dashboard in any of the following ways:

   • Rearrange a card by clicking the icon on the card, and then drag and drop the card to your preferred location on the dashboard.
   • Resize a card by clicking the lower-right corner of the card and dragging it to your preferred size.
   • Add a card to the dashboard by doing any of the following actions:
     • To manually place a metric card, drag and drop the card from the metric library sidebar on to the dashboard.
     • To place the metric card at the top left of the dashboard, click the metric name in the metric library sidebar.
   • Remove a card from the dashboard by clicking the X on the card that you want to remove.

4. Optional: To undo all layout changes and restore your cards to the default view, click Reset to default.

5. When you're finished customizing the metric cards on the dashboard, click Save.

Using the metrics library

The metrics library contains a list of all the available metrics that can be included in your Analytics overview dashboard. Every report has a corresponding card available for the dashboard, including your custom reports. By default, the metrics are organized by category, such as Acquisition, Behavior, or Customers, so that you can more easily find the metric that you want to add to your dashboard.

You can add any number of the available cards to your dashboard, but each card can be included only one time. When a metric card is added to the dashboard, it's removed from the metric library sidebar as an available option, so that you can't accidentally duplicate a card.

You can use the search bar at the top of the metrics library to search for a metric by keyword. You can also click the icon to sort the metrics library by category or title, or change the sort order between alphabetical (A-Z) and reverse alphabetical (Z-A).

Organizing metric cards into sections

You can create sections to organize cards together under a custom label that you create. With sections, you can do any of the following actions:

• Create new sections.
• Customize the content in the sections.
• Rearrange all sections.
• Delete sections.

You can also temporarily hide and unhide sections by clicking the or icons in each section.

Create sections in your Analytics overview dashboard

You can create new sections in your dashboard to organize your data.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Analytics.

2. Click > Customize to open the dashboard editor.

3. Do any of the following actions:

   • At the top of the dashboard, click Add section.
   • Between any existing sections, click ⊕ Add section.

4. In the new section title, enter a section name, and then press Enter.

5. Optional: Customize your new section's content and rearrange the order of sections.

6. Click Save.

Edit section content in your Analytics overview dashboard

You can customize the content in any section of the Analytics overview dashboard. This includes adding, changing, resizing, or removing metric cards, and renaming and rearranging existing sections on the dashboard.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Analytics.

2. Click > Customize to open the dashboard editor.

3. To customize your section content, do any of the following actions:

   • To rename a section title, click the icon, and then rename your section.
   • To add a metric card to the dashboard, do any of the following actions:
     • Drag and drop the card from the sidebar into the section.
     • Click the card in the sidebar that you want to add to the section.
   • To rearrange a card in a section, click the icon on the card, and then drag and drop the card to your preferred location on the dashboard.
   • To resize a card, click the lower-right corner of the card and drag it to your preferred size.
   • To remove a card from the section, click the X for the card that you want to remove.

4. Click Save.

Rearrange sections in your Analytics overview dashboard

You can control the order in which the sections display in your Analytics overview dashboard, from top to bottom.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Analytics.

2. Click > Customize to open the dashboard editor.

3. Click Reorder sections.

4. In the Reorder sections dialog, click and drag the icon to rearrange the sections from top to bottom.

5. Click Save.

Delete sections in your Analytics overview dashboard

You can delete a custom section in your Analytics overview dashboard at any time.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Analytics.

2. Click > Customize to open the dashboard editor.

3. In the section that you want to delete, click the icon to delete the section.

4. Click Save.

Reset your Analytics overview dashboard

You can reset your Analytics overview dashboard to its default state at any time. The default dashboard display includes only 1 section called "Dashboard", and it contains the default array of metric cards in their default order and sizing.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Analytics.

2. Click > Customize to open the dashboard editor.

3. Click Reset to default.

4. Click Save.
