Connect your social media accounts to Shopify Collabs
After you create your Collabs account, you can connect your social media accounts to showcase your content. You can connect Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube accounts.
Connect a Facebook Page
To connect a Facebook account to Collabs, you must have an active Facebook Page. Facebook profiles (including professional mode accounts) can't be connected to Collabs—only Facebook Pages.
Steps:
- From your Shopify Collabs dashboard, click Settings > Social accounts.
- Click Connect beside Facebook.
- If you have "off-Facebook activity" turned off, then click Turn on on the prompt. You must turn this feature on to connect your Facebook account. Learn more about managing your future off-Facebook activity.
- Click Continue on the Facebook permissions window.
- Select the Facebook Page that you want to connect. You must select one page.
- Click Continue, and then click OK.
Troubleshooting Facebook connection issues
If you're having trouble connecting your Facebook account:
- Verify that you have an active Facebook Page. If a "No pages found" error is displayed, then you need to create a Facebook Page before you can connect to Collabs.
- Verify that "off-Facebook activity" tracking is turned on in your Facebook settings.
- Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, or use incognito mode.
- Log out of Facebook, then log back in to the correct Facebook account that has access to the Page you want to connect.
- If you previously connected a Facebook account, then go to your Business Integrations settings on Facebook, find Shopify Collabs, remove it, and then try connecting again.
Connect an Instagram account
You can connect an Instagram Creator or Business account for full feature access, or connect a basic Instagram account with limited features.
Steps:
- From your Shopify Collabs dashboard, click Settings > Social accounts.
- Click Connect beside Instagram.
- If you're using a Creator or Business account, then verify that your Instagram account is connected to a Facebook Page.
- Follow the prompts to complete the connection.
Troubleshooting Instagram connection issues
If you encounter errors when connecting your Instagram account, then review the following solutions:
- "Authorized account and selected account do not match": This error is displayed when the Instagram account you're connecting doesn't match the account you used in your application. Go to instagram.com in your web browser and verify that you're logged in to the correct account, then try connecting again.
- "The Instagram business account or Facebook Page it is linked to were not selected in the Facebook permissions window": Verify which Facebook Page is linked to your Instagram account in your Instagram settings, then ensure you select that Page when connecting to Collabs.
- {"error": "Unauthorized"}: This error can occur when using Chrome on Android with the Instagram app open. Try using a desktop computer or an Apple device instead.
- "Your activity off Meta technologies is currently turned off": Go to your Facebook off-Meta activity settings and turn on this feature.
If you're connecting the wrong Instagram account, then disconnect the current account in Collabs, log in to the correct Instagram account in your browser, and then reconnect in Collabs. You might need to clear your browser cache or use an incognito window.
Connect a YouTube channel
You can connect your YouTube channel to Shopify Collabs to showcase your video content.
By connecting a YouTube account to, or otherwise using any YouTube-powered feature of, the Services, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Information accessed through the YouTube API Services is used, stored, and disclosed by Shopify in accordance with the Shopify Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke Shopify Collabs' access to your YouTube data at any time through your Google security settings, and you can delete YouTube data stored by Shopify Collabs by disconnecting your YouTube account or by deleting your Collabs account.
Steps:
- From your Shopify Collabs dashboard, click Settings > Social accounts.
- Click Connect beside YouTube.
- Follow the prompts to complete the connection.
Troubleshoot YouTube connection issues
If you receive a "To connect you must have a YouTube channel" error, then the Google account that you're using doesn't have owner permissions for the YouTube channel.
To resolve this:
- In YouTube Studio, go to Settings > Permissions.
- Verify that your Google Account email is listed with the role as Owner.
- If you don't have owner permissions, then you need to contact the channel owner to grant you owner access, or connect using a Google Account that has owner permissions.
Revoking access
You can revoke Collabs app access to your data from social media platforms at any time by visiting each social media platform's app and security settings. Revoking these authorizations might limit or remove certain functionality of the Collabs app.
