Shopify Payments fees

The cost of using Shopify Payments varies based on your plan. You can lower credit card rates by upgrading your subscription with Shopify. Review the full list of pricing for each plan on Shopify's pricing page.

Fees for Shopify Payments

Aside from the credit card rate and the subscription fees for your store's Shopify subscription plan, there are no monthly fees, no hidden fees, and no setup fees for Shopify Payments. When you use Shopify Payments as your sole payment provider, there are no third-party transaction fees for orders. If you use Shopify Payments alongside a third-party provider, then different fees apply.

Fees with a third-party provider

If you use Shopify Payments alongside a direct third-party payment provider, then the following fees apply:

  • Transactions processed by your third-party provider, such as credit and debit card payments, are subject to third-party transaction fees based on your Shopify plan.
  • Transactions processed by Shopify Payments, such as Shop Pay and local payment methods, are charged at standard Shopify Payments rates plus a 1.25% premium. Shopify Payments rates vary by plan type and market.

Changing your Shopify plan

If you decide to change your plan at any time, then your Shopify Payments credit card rate is updated. When you activate Shopify Payments, you stop paying the subscription transaction fees listed on Shopify's pricing page.

Likewise, if you're using Shopify Payments and switch to another payment processor, then you begin paying the subscription transaction fees to Shopify. These fees are in addition to the fees paid to your new third-party payment processor.

After you've set up Shopify Payments and started getting orders paid with Shopify Payments, you can export your transactions to track your fees. Learn more about exporting your transactions.
