WeChat Pay
WeChat Pay is a wallet and app-based local payment method. Eligible merchants can use WeChat Pay to accept payments from customers who use WeChat Pay, wherever those customers are located. WeChat Pay is available through Shopify Payments, so you don't need to set up a third-party payment gateway to offer WeChat Pay.
Customers can use WeChat Pay for one-time payments at online checkout. Depending on your store's eligibility, customers can also use WeChat Pay in the Shop app and in store on Shopify POS.

Requirements when using WeChat Pay for Shopify Payments
To use WeChat Pay with Shopify Payments, your store must meet the following requirements:

- Your Shopify Payments account must be located in Hong Kong SAR.
- Your store must have an eligible business category.

You can check availability in your Shopify Payments settings, which depends on your account, country, and business category.
Considerations when using WeChat Pay
Before activating WeChat Pay with Shopify Payments, review the following considerations:
- WeChat Pay isn't available for subscription orders. Customers can use WeChat Pay only for one-time payments.
- Customers can't use WeChat Pay to buy gift card products.
- Customers can use WeChat Pay at online checkout on desktop.
- WeChat Pay can also be available on mobile web, in the Shop app, and in store on Shopify POS. Availability depends on your store's eligibility.
- Customers who select WeChat Pay at checkout receive a message that they pay in Chinese yuan (CNY). The WeChat app converts the order total to CNY during payment.
- You're paid for WeChat Pay orders in your usual Shopify Payments payout currency.
- Funds for WeChat Pay orders are captured automatically after the customer completes payment.
- You can issue full or partial refunds for WeChat Pay orders from your Shopify admin. Learn more about refunds with Shopify Payments.
- WeChat Pay doesn't support card-style chargebacks. If there's an issue with an order, then the customer must contact you directly to resolve the issue. You can issue a refund as part of resolving the issue.
WeChat Pay transaction limits
WeChat Pay can limit how much a customer can pay in a single transaction. These limits are set by WeChat Pay and the customer's funding source, not by Shopify or in your Shopify admin.
If a customer's order is over their WeChat Pay transaction limit, then the payment can be declined. The customer might need to use another payment method or place a smaller order.

The customer selects WeChat Pay and completes the payment in the WeChat app. After the payment is complete, the customer is redirected to the order confirmation.
When WeChat Pay is available in store on Shopify POS, the customer scans a QR code to complete payment with WeChat Pay.
Refunds with WeChat Pay
You can refund WeChat Pay orders from your Shopify admin in the same way that you refund other Shopify Payments orders. You can issue full or partial refunds for up to 180 days after the original charge. The original payment must settle into your Shopify Payments balance before you can issue a refund.
