Deleting themes

You can delete a theme from your online store within the Themes page in your Shopify admin.

You can add up to 20 themes to your online store. If you already have 20 themes, then you can delete themes to make room for more.

Delete an unpublished theme

You can delete an unpublished theme from your admin. This is a permanent action.

Steps:

Desktop

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. In the Draft themes section, find the theme that you want to delete, click the Horizontal menu button to open the actions menu, and then click Delete.

  3. On the Delete... window, click Delete.

Mobile

  1. From the Shopify app, tap the Menu icon.

  2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.

  3. Tap Manage all themes.

  4. In the Draft themes section, find the theme that you want to delete, tap the Horizontal menu button to open the actions menu, and then tap Delete.

  5. On the Delete... window, tap Delete.

Delete your published theme

If you want to delete the theme that you currently have published, then you need to publish another theme first. After you publish another theme, you can delete the unwanted theme from your store.
