Add and edit store resources

You can create or edit the following resources in your store directly from the theme editor:

• Create products and collections from resource pickers or from templates
• Edit products and collections
• Edit existing markets
• Create new metaobjects

Resources that you create in the theme editor are available in your Shopify admin after you create them. Edits that you make to store resources are also edited across your Shopify admin. For example, if you change the name of an existing product in a Product highlight section on your theme's homepage, then that product's name is also updated in the Products section of your Shopify admin, and on any other sales channels, such as Shopify POS.

Considerations

Review the following considerations for creating and editing online store resources from the theme editor:

• You can create or edit one product or collection at a time in the theme editor. If you want to edit multiple products, then you can use the bulk editor in the Shopify admin.
• You can edit a product or collection from the theme editor only if it's already assigned to a resource. You can't create new markets from the theme editor. To create a new market, go to the Markets page of your Shopify admin. Learn more about creating a new market.
• You can't edit existing metaobjects, or create new metafield definitions from the theme editor. To edit metaobjects, or to add metafield definitions, go to the Content > Metaobjects page of your Shopify admin. Learn more about using metaobjects in your online store.

Manage a product or collection resource

Manage a resource from a block or section setting

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

2. Next to the theme that you want to edit, click Edit theme.

3. Click the section or block that contains the resource that you want to edit.

4. Click the resource, and then click Edit.

5. In the dialog, make changes to the resource.

6. Click Save.

Manage a resource from a template

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

2. Next to the theme that you want to edit, click Edit theme.

3. Click the Home page drop-down menu, and then select the template that you want to edit.

4. In the Preview section of the sidebar, click the icon.

5. In the dialog, make changes to the resource.

6. Click Save to close the dialog.

Editing a market

If you have more than one market or Shopify B2B feature activated, then you can adapt your theme for each market. You can edit your existing markets from the market selector in the theme editor.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

2. Next to the theme that you want to edit, click Edit theme.

3. Click the market selector from the menu bar.

4. Next to the market that you want to edit, click the icon.

5. In the dialog, make changes to the resource.

6. Click Save to close the dialog.

Creating a metaobject

You can add a new metaobject entry directly from the theme editor for any setting that accepts a dynamic source.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

2. Next to the theme that you want to edit, click Edit theme.

3. Click the section or block that contains the metaobject that you want to add a new entry to.

4. Next to the setting, click the icon.

5. Click the Add entry button.

6. In the dialog, add the new metaobject entries to the resource.

7. Click Save to close the dialog.
