Customize your Shop Store product detail pages

You can customize your product detail pages in the Shop app using blocks. Blocks let you add sections such as images, videos, slideshows, and product recommendations below your product details with no coding required, so that your Shop Store can match the rest of your brand.

After you add blocks to your Shop product detail pages, your customizations display below the Ratings & Reviews section on your product detail pages on the Shop app and shop.app.

Product detail page section types

The following section types are available for the blocks on your Shop Store product detail pages:

  • Image: A full-width image section for lifestyle shots, size guides, or brand visuals. Image sections support linking to a product, collection, or external URL.
  • Product details: The product details section is added by default to the product detail page template, and is in a fixed location. You can have only 1 product details section, and it can't be moved or customized.
  • Product group: A product group section lets you feature 1–4 related products per section for cross-selling and bundles, and includes a headline.
  • Shoppable video: A video with tagged products that customers can shop directly. You can add up to 10 shoppable products to each video, which overlay on top of the video.
  • Slideshow: A carousel of images, videos, or both with text overlays. You can link to individual products or collections, and choose between basic, graphic, and overlay slideshows. Slideshow sections include call-to-action buttons that you can link to a product, collection, or external URL.
  • Video: A full-width video section to showcase your product in action. Video sections support linking to a product, collection, or external URL. You can upload your own video, or add user-generated content from customers.

You can add up to 2 sections on each template. Supported media formats for your sections include JPEG, PNG, or WebP for images, and MOV (QuickTime) or MP4 for video.

Create a template

You can create templates to apply customizations to different groups of products on your Shop Store. For example, you could create a template for products that require a size chart section, and another for products that include a style guide. Each template applies only to the products that you assign to it.

After you create a new template, you can edit it to add sections, and then assign products to it.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.

  2. In the Store section, click Customize.

  3. In the page picker, select Products, and then click Create template.

  4. Enter a name for the template, and then select a product group from the Based on drop-down menu to apply the template to.

  5. Click Create.

  6. Optional: Edit your template to add sections to the template.

  7. Click Save.

Edit a template

You can add, edit, remove, and reorder sections in your templates in the Shop editor.

After you save your changes, your templates are updated immediately. In the editor preview, select different products to check how the template displays in Shop.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.

  2. In the Store section, click Customize.

  3. In the page picker, select Products, and then click the template that you want to edit.

  4. From the template menu, do any of the following:

    • To add a section, click Plus circle Add section, select the section that you want to add, and then customize the section.
    • To reorder sections, drag and drop them to change their position.
    • To edit an existing section, click the section that you want to edit, and then make your changes.
    • To remove a section or slideshow slide, click the Delete icon next to the section.

  5. Click Save.

Assign products to a template

You can assign and unassign products to a template at any time. You can also assign a single product to a template for per-product customizations, such as unique lifestyle imagery for a hero product.

Products that aren't assigned to any specific template use the Default template. If you don't add any sections to the Default template, then those products use the standard product detail page without blocks.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.

  2. In the Store section, click Customize.

  3. From the page picker, select the template that you want to assign products to.

  4. In the Template menu next to the template name, click the Edit icon.

  5. In the dialog, select or search for the products that you want to assign to the template.

  6. Click Assign.

Displaying your Shop product detail pages in other languages

Unlike your Shop Store home page, your product detail pages in Shop appear only in your store's primary language.

If you want your product detail pages to display in other supported languages in Shop, then consider translating your store using the Translate & Adapt app, or a third-party translation app that uses the Translation API and the translationsRegister mutation for Shop.

Display or remove Shop Minis from your product detail pages

Your products might display in Shop Minis, which are interactive shopping experiences in the Shop app. Additionally, relevant Shop Minis, such as virtual try-on experiences, might display on your product detail pages in Shop.

Although you can't opt your products out of displaying in Shop Minis, you can turn Shop Minis on or off for your product detail pages. By default, Shop Minis are turned on. You can manage this in your Shop channel settings.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. In the Shop Minis section, do either of the following:

    • To prevent Shop Minis from displaying on your product detail pages, click Disable.
    • To display Shop Minis on your product detail pages, click Enable.
