Filtering and organizing B2B customer data using metafields

You can filter and organize B2B customer data using company and company location metafields on the Companies page and company details page.

You can filter B2B customer data using the company and company location metafields. You can have up to 50 definitions for each company metafield and company location metafield.

Before you start

Before you can filter B2B customer data using company and company location metafields, you need to complete the following tasks:

Supported metafield definition types

You can use the following metafield definition types to filter companies and company locations using company and company location metafields:

  • Collection reference or Collection reference (list)
  • Company reference or Company reference (list)
  • Metaobject reference or Metaobject reference (list)
  • Page reference or Page reference (list)
  • Product reference or Product reference (list)
  • Single line text or Single line text (list)
  • True or false

Activate filtering for company and company location metafields

To filter B2B customer data using company and company location metafields, you need to activate the filtering setting in your metafield definitions.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Metafields and metaobjects.

  2. Depending on the metafield definition that you want to use for filtering, click Companies or Company locations.

  3. Click the metafield definition that you want to use to filter companies or company locations.

  4. In the Options section, activate the Filtering for companies or Filtering for company details option.

  5. Click Save.

Filter B2B customer data using company metafields

After you create your metafield and activate metafield filtering, you can filter companies using company metafields on the Companies page.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Customers > Companies.

  2. Click the searchfilter icon.

  3. Click Add filter +.

  4. In the Metafields section, select the metafield that you want to use to filter your companies.

Filter B2B customer data using company location metafields

After you create your metafield and activate the metafields filtering, you can filter company locations using company location metafields on a company details page.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Customers > Companies.

  2. Click a company that you want to filter.

  3. In the Locations section, click the searchfilter icon.

  4. Click Add filter +.

  5. In the Metafields section, select the metafield that you want to use to filter your company locations.
