Using saved prompts with Sidekick

Sidekick skills are saved prompts that you can reuse with custom shortcuts. Instead of re-entering the same requests or trying to remember how you phrased a successful prompt, you can save your best prompts as skills and use them again with a single command.

You can save any prompt as a skill, including the following examples of recurring tasks:

  • Generating copy for social media posts
  • Writing a new product description
  • Producing a sales snapshot with insights
  • Forecasting sales revenue for a specific time

Add a new skill

Create and save up to 25 prompts as skills in Sidekick to automate recurring tasks.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click the Sidekick icon to open a chat with Sidekick.

  2. In the chat window, click the Plus icon.

  3. Create a new skill in any of the following ways:

    • In the chat window, enter / followed by a word or phrase to name your skill, and then click Enter when prompted to create a new skill.
    • Provide Sidekick with a prompt that includes specific instructions, click the Circle Up icon, and then hover over the textbox and click the Skills icon to save a new skill.

  4. In the Create a new skill dialog, edit the shortcut command or instructions for your skill.

  5. Click Save.

Use a saved skill

  1. From your Shopify admin, click the Sidekick icon to open a chat with Sidekick.

  2. In the chat window, click the Plus icon.

  3. Click the Skills icon, and then choose from the list of saved skills.

Edit or delete a saved skill

  1. From your Shopify admin, click the Sidekick icon to open a chat with Sidekick.

  2. In the chat window, click the Plus icon.

  3. Click the Skills icon, then do either of the following:

    • To edit a skill:
      1. Select the applicable skill and click the Edit icon.
      2. In the Edit Skill dialog, edit the shortcut or instructions for your skill.
    • To delete a skill:
      1. Select the applicable skill and click the Delete icon.

Share a saved skill

You can share a saved skill with other Shopify merchants, who can then review the shortcut and instructions for your skill and add it to Sidekick in their Shopify admin.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click the Sidekick icon to open a chat with Sidekick.

  2. In the chat window, click the Plus icon.

  3. Click the Skills icon to view your saved skills.

  4. Select the skill that you want to share, and then click the Share icon to copy a shareable URL to your clipboard.
